On our way to Dalhart, we swung by and saw Gran in Colorado City.  We found some sweet trucker hats from the 70s when our great grandparents owned Snead’s Premier in Ranger, Texas.  Gran was happy we found them and let us have them.

We got to Dalhart around 8:30 and hung out with Dusty and his wife Rebecca. They live on a neat historic street in downtown Dalhart. We visited, drank some beer, and Dusty cooked up a great steak dinner. I slept like a log on a soft bed and took a hot shower this morning. Two things I will not have for the next 10 days! Time to get back on the road..

This was our campsite in 2004, about 5 miles up Lockhart Basin Road from Scenic Hwy 211.  It’s just east of Canyonlands National Park.  You can see North and South Sixshooter Peaks with the Abajo mountains off to the left.  We’re going to camp somewhere around here on Saturday night before we head into the Needles. I can’t wait to get back..

Blah.. I haven’t blogged in a while. That’s the problem with these silly blogging websites; sometimes you just forget you have a website and that you actually have to update it. Anyhow, really glad the holidays are here. Jen and I picked up a Christmas tree (a real live one, my first!) and are going to decorate it this week. I was a little thrown off by the fact you have to water your tree. I told Jen that I wouldn’t mind a dookie brown tree come Christmas time. She wasn’t amused and purchased a tree stand so we can have a nice pretty tree all December long. It’s beginning to feel alot like Christmas! Ok, that was lame, but you catch my drift. Ok, now for my “Top 5 things I want for Christmas” list.

1. My upstairs neighbor’s dog to stop peeing off the balcony and killing my plants.
2. An iCar for my iPod so i can “bling” when I listen to my music.. (What the hell is that? click here)
3. A recycling center at my apartment complex for the 300+ come and gone beer bottles in my pantry.
4. A time machine.
5. The VFW across the street to stop playing Tejano music at 2′oclock in the morning..

I think Santa can manage those things. I’ll opt for a Aston Martin Vanquish in case he has trouble with the time machine..

Sigh.. It’s been a month since I’ve last blogged. A lot of things have been going on in my life right now and I’ve been extremely busy.� I know many of you check the site often, and I have lots of things planned for this site.� Just stay tuned.. I promise not to disappoint.

For awhile now, I’ve been subscribing to a newsletter called BuyBlue.org It’s a website devoted to “supporting businesses that share progressive values and ideals”, with a theme of “People, Planet, and Profit.” Before you think of it as some sort of “hippie, liberal” over the top website, think again. There are great articles on current events, controversial topics, and how businesses are affecting our lives everyday. Anyhow, I stumbled across a good article today about obesity in America. It made some references to some books that I’ve read, in particular “Fast Food Nation” by Eric Schlosser, which is going to be made into a movie later this year; that I found somewhat amusing. Not sure how they’re going to make it into a full-length feature, but Patricia Arquette and Ethan Hawke are casted in it. Should be interesting to say the least. I suggest to people that haven’t read it, to go pick it up. It talks about the fast food industry as a whole and it’s questionable practices. Don’t know where my copy went, but I’m thinking of going and buying it just to read it again.

Anyhow, I’ve got a lot of pictures that I’m going to try to put up during the week. That’s kinda been the reason I haven’t been blogging as much because I’m trying to edit a lot of them in Photoshop. I guess you could say that I’m a “story with pictures” kinda guy. My buddy at work has been giving me PS pointers here and there, while I try to beat the good ol’ learning curve. Expect more posts/pictures soon..

The main reason I put up this blog, was to friggin’ blog on it! I keep finding myself contemplating what I should write about, instead of just writing. I’m going to make a concerted effort to blog more frequently rather than the occasional post. As of lately, life has been very good. Work is going well, and I should be changing positions soon. I really enjoy where I work and the people that I work with. However, it’s time for a change and I’ve been approached about doing something more challenging and I’m excited about the opportunity. It’s warmed up outside and I’ve taken back to running again with an aim to fulfill my original goal of running a marathon. We’ll see if that happens. You just don’t go out and run a marathon. It takes time and a lot of training. Patience with progression is the key to success. I live on White Rock Lake here in Dallas and there is a bike and running track that circles 12 miles around the entire lake. Perfect for training. My brother is bringing his bike up next week and is going to let me borrow it for awhile. I’ve been really wanting a bike because the location is great for it. I’ll finally get to put my ipod and camelback to some good use.

The NBA playoffs are going on right now and my Spurs are currently in the first round with Sacramento with the series at 2-2. I’m dogged all day at work for being a Spurs fan. But I won’t back down. After defeating Sacramento (I guarantee we’ll win), we’ll be facing Dallas. Don’t get me wrong, Dallas looks strong. Stronger than they’ve ever been, and our boys haven’t been playing their best basketball lately. I’m still convinced that no one can beat us in a 7 game series with home court advantage, and I stand by that. We’ll just have to wait and see. All I ask is that we please please beat Dallas in the next round. Otherwise, I might have to quit my job to save embarrassment.

Headed to Austin this weekend with Jennifer to visit some friends. No plans on what we’re going to do exactly, but I want to hit up the river for some swimming or tubing. The Horseshoe Lounge will definitely be visited for some late night shuffle board action, and then to Maria’s for some early morning super grub. Going to take some pictures for sure. ATX, here we come!

I was eating dinner last night with my mom downstairs and we noticed four fire trucks pull up into our apartment complex. I went to check out what was going on and noticed a lot of smoke coming from the fourth floor of the parking garage. Come to find out, a car had caught fire and ignited the two cars next to it. As you can see from the pictures, it was a total loss for those vehicle owners. At least no one got hurt. Turned out to be quite an eventful evening.

I got on a roll last night and put in like 7 hours straight working on getting a site layout I was happy with. Or maybe it was the fact that it was 2:35am when I decided I’d had enough. Most of the bugs have been fixed, and the page should look similar in Internet Explorer as well as Firefox. It’s still a work in progress and I’ll implement new ideas as they come to me.

I also bought a couple of albums of iTunes last night for my ipod. Both are from “The Decemberists”, a band I saw during the last Austin City Limits Music Festival. Being one of the more interesting acts I saw, I decided I’d swing for their latest album. “Picaresque” is an album that conjures up wonderful images of a different time all while telling the story of characters that history could have forgotten. Some particular favorites “On the Bus Mall”, “The Engine Driver”, and “The Bagman’s Gambit”. I liked this album so much, I bought their first one(“Castaways and Cutouts”) as well. Being that Indie Rock has been my predominant musical genre over the past 2 years, these guys cut themselves out a nice little niche..

Oh, and I almost forgot. It’s Super Bowl Sunday..

16 days left in the “NBA Salary Cap Challenge” game, and I must say it’s been a real treat these past 3 months. The final strech is upon us, who will come out on top? I’d like to say “Sneado’s Vitamin-S Squad”, but at the current moment my squad is 83 TSNP behind “D-Base’s All-Stars”. These last few weeks will prove challenging, but I have a few tricks up my sleeve to gaurantee 1st place. A word of caution to D-Base and A-Luv, prepare your teams because the final shipment of “Vitamin-S” has just arrived..
