Count another ACL festival down in the record books. As usual, it was grand ol’ time in Austin hanging with friends and hearing some of the best live music in Texas. Some highlights of the show included a giant fireball, Pete Yorn, Spoon, Muse, Arcade Fire, and Wilco to name a few. Many thanks to Carter and Karen for their generous hospitality and allowing us to stay with them throughout the weekend. Extra thanks to Carter for his ‘hawk eyes’ and spotting Jeff Tweedy from Wilco doing a little shopping on South Congress. He was even bold enough to request a picture, which Tweedy gladly obliged. You can check it out in the photography section. See ya’ll next year!

This is the second time I’ve seen Wilco, and they have yet to disappoint. Jennifer and I met up with Mr. Carter Blackburn in Fort Worth and then headed over to Will Rogers Auditorium (great venue btw) for the show. They got up on stage around 8:30 and played a solid two hours with two encores. It seems as though Wilco is under most people’s musical radar and that’s a shame. These guys have been making great music for 10+ years with no signs of stopping. All in all, we had a great time and I look forward to the next opportunity to see them..

What an awesome time this year, even better than the last! Jen and I enjoyed seeing everyone and we want to give a big thanks to Carter for letting us crash at his pad throughout the weekend. We rode our bikes to the festival everyday, which turned out to be a nice luxury for our weary feet at the end of the day. Overall, the weather was excellent. It wasn’t too hot and it even rained a few times which cooled things off. The bands were great this year, some highlights being The Kings of Leon, What Made Milwaukee Famous, Gomez, Ween, Ben Kweller, and Tom Petty to name a few. Carter’s annual “Bloody Mary Morning” party went off without a hitch. It was good to so many old friends in one spot. I’ve also added some pictures from the show into my Photos section. Enjoy, and hope to see you guys next year..

Been a busy week. Just moved to my new position at work, and I’ve hadn’t had much time to post. It’s been hot as hell outside and I’m really ready for summer to be over here in Texas. Anyhow, Jen and I are going to go see Alex Jones new movie (Terror Storm) tomorrow night at Lakewood Theatre right here in Dallas. He’s going to speak afterwords, along with Jim Marrs, then there will be a little late night music. Should be an interesting and exciting event.

Austin City Limits Music Festival is right around the corner. Been scoping the lineup and checking out bands that I would like to go hear. The Raconteurs, Kings of Leon, Willie Nelson, and Tom Petty will be there to name a few. It’s always a good time, and I’m looking forward to meeting up with the Austin gang for a great weekend of fun. Speaking of bands, Wilco is going to be in Texas at the beginning of October and they’ll be playing in Fort Worth on the 12th. Tickets go on sale tomorrow and of course I’ll be buying a pair..

I got on a roll last night and put in like 7 hours straight working on getting a site layout I was happy with. Or maybe it was the fact that it was 2:35am when I decided I’d had enough. Most of the bugs have been fixed, and the page should look similar in Internet Explorer as well as Firefox. It’s still a work in progress and I’ll implement new ideas as they come to me.

I also bought a couple of albums of iTunes last night for my ipod. Both are from “The Decemberists”, a band I saw during the last Austin City Limits Music Festival. Being one of the more interesting acts I saw, I decided I’d swing for their latest album. “Picaresque” is an album that conjures up wonderful images of a different time all while telling the story of characters that history could have forgotten. Some particular favorites “On the Bus Mall”, “The Engine Driver”, and “The Bagman’s Gambit”. I liked this album so much, I bought their first one(“Castaways and Cutouts”) as well. Being that Indie Rock has been my predominant musical genre over the past 2 years, these guys cut themselves out a nice little niche..

Oh, and I almost forgot. It’s Super Bowl Sunday..

GO SPURS GO!
